How do I apply for personal assistance?

Step 1

Ask for a medical opinion

Contact a doctor to get a statement that describes your disability and how it affects you (Medical statement for assistance compensation - Statement from a psychologist - Statement from a physiotherapist - Occupational therapist

Step 2

To apply for personal assistance, you can log on to Försäkringskassan's website and use the "My pages" service, where you can complete the application electronically. Alternatively, you can also download the application form 3062 from Försäkringskassan's website and fill it in manually.

It is worth noting that Försäkringskassan always offers the option of a personal meeting, which means that your application does not need to be detailed or complete. If something is missing or if the application is brief, you can still submit it and then discuss more details with Försäkringskassan at a meeting.

In addition to applying to Försäkringskassan, you also need to make an application to the municipality where you are registered. You can usually find the application form on the municipality's own website or by contacting their area of responsibility for personal assistance.

Submitting the application to both Försäkringskassan and the municipality is important to ensure a correct and efficient assessment of your needs for personal assistance.

Step 3
The case manager will contact you and book a meeting. You will receive a decision about 4 months after your application has been received.
We make an assessment together with you about what the next step should be.
